During his presentation, John will examine the historical GSOC paradigm, how intelligence has evolved within the GSOC arena, and how the integration of the two functions can occur to foster organizational security synergy for your company.
It is an honor to be invited to present at the ICMC 2021. During my presentation, GSOC and Intelligence: Looking Over the Horizon, we will discuss the evolution of where the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) has traditionally been situated, where intelligence can be integrated into the GSOC function, and how enhancing situational awareness in this space can move your organizational security function “ahead of the threat.”
John Barrios
Dr. Barrios currently serves as the Sr Manager of Crisis Management for all of Amazon Worldwide Operations. In this role, his portfolio includes the crisis management, global intelligence, and law enforcement engagement programs, whose mission is to oversee & lead mitigation efforts of life/safety, operational, and brand issues for the company. He is based out of the Amazon Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). Previously, he served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 23 years in a variety of national security and criminal investigative roles. He retired as the Senior Executive leading the FBIs Strategic Information Operations Center (SIOC) and Crisis Management Program. In that role, he was involved in FBI national-level responses to many high-profile crisis, critical incidents, and natural weather disasters, as well as security matters for the 2020 Olympics, Super Bowl, and the RNC/DNC. Dr. Barrios is also a Professor of Criminal Justice with the University of Maryland Global Campus.
