On day-three of the 11th Annual International Crisis Management Conference, Brenden Glynn and Matt Giacobbi of IBM X-Force, will lead the afternoon training workshop: Digital Fault Line: A Cyber Exercise.
Many organizations still treat cyber incidents as technical events, but in reality, a serious cyber crisis quickly becomes a business-wide response challenge. In this interactive workshop, attendees will be placed inside a simulated cyber crisis designed to build familiarity with best practices for breach response while reinforcing the importance of coordination across legal, HR, communications, business operations, and other key functions.
In their speaker spotlight interview, the X-Force team emphasized that one of the biggest lessons they want attendees to walk away with is that communication matters. They also stressed that effective response is a true team effort, and that practicing under pressure helps build the muscle memory organizations need when a real incident occurs. Just as important, they noted that while technology continues to evolve rapidly, the human element remains essential.
Attendees will gain practical insight into:
- Why a cyber crisis should be treated as a business-wide response, not just a technical issue
- How cross-functional teams including legal, HR, communications, and business operations need to work together during an incident
- Why communication is one of the most important factors in successful crisis response
- How simulated pressure and active participation can help teams learn from each other in real time
- Why practice, training, and muscle memory remain critical to crisis readiness
The goal isn’t simply to talk about response plans, but to help attendees experience what effective crisis coordination looks like under pressure and leave with a stronger understanding of how to improve communication, teamwork, and preparedness across the organization.
In this short video, Brenden and Matt discuss their backgrounds, what attendees can expect from the session, and why the human side of crisis response remains just as important as the tools organizations rely on.
