2020 has thrown us many curve balls this year.

The 5th Annual International Crisis Management Conference was originally planned for May 2020 as a live 3-day event in Newport, RI with 2 days for training and one day for speaker presentations. When the pandemic was declared and the state guidelines for gatherings and travel became restricted, ICMC didn’t let these restrictions stop their planning. Almost immediately the live event was moved to October.  And then when it became apparent that a live event just wouldn’t be possible, instead of canceling ICMC 2020, it was decided the event would go virtual.  Due to this change, training was separated from the main event, and the 3 days were reserved for just the speaker presentations.

The nine expert speakers at this year’s conference spoke on topics from – lessons learned during the response of the covid-19 crisiscybersecurity and cyber resilience, crisis communications, trauma response, de-escalation techniques, crisis simulation exercises, and more.

One attendees feedback from this year’s conference:

ICMC’s annual conference is a must-attend event for crisis professionals from all sizes and types of organizations. This year’s conference was another superb example.  We saw presentations from the most accomplished crisis experts of today. Their presentations informed us not only about new developments in crisis preparedness and response but also about how they’re handling new crisis threats all organizations now face such as COVID and potential post-election violence. You come away from these conferences much better equipped to contribute to your own organization’s preparedness.

All sessions from the conference were recorded and are now available under the ICMC 2020 tab in the ICMC Video library for registered attendees and ICMC professional members.
