In this latest webinar, we were joined by Sean Smith, Executive Vice President at Porter Novelli. Sean leads the global Reputation Management practice and has established an innovative approach to corporate communications.
During the Q&A style presentation, Sean discussed crisis communications and covered common mistakes, decision-making challenges and crisis communications plans.
One key question for Sean focused on how businesses should start to create a crisis communications plan. He explained that the first step every organization should take is conducting a risk assessment. He stressed the importance of this initial step and explained why it should be done every single year. Once the assessment is complete, he suggests prioritizing the identified risks, building out the crisis communications plan based on those scenarios and finally, determining messaging.
